Free swimming lessons through Utrecht Municipality for diploma A

The municipality of Utrecht offers a swimming lesson package. This allows children to have free swimming lessons and get their swimming certificate A.

When can your child get a swimming lesson package?

Your child lives in Utrecht.
Your child is 5 to 17 years old.
Your child does not yet have a swimming certificate.
There is no school swimming at your child's school.
You have a U pass.

Do you have a U pass?

First check whether you are entitled to a free swimming lesson package from the Municipality of Utrecht (see above). Are you not entitled to this? Then submit the application to us. Before doing so, check whether there is any money left on the U-pas. If so, we will ask you to clear it first. If the U-pas is empty or if the U-pas is needed for something else, you can request reimbursement from us. If we reimburse the swimming lessons, we will put the money on the U-pas. After your application, we will tell you exactly how this works.

Don't have a U pass?

If you do not have a U-pas but are eligible for help from us, you can send in your swimming voucher. We charge a maximum fee of €5 per quarter-hour for swimming lessons.

Aanwezigheid

Het is belangrijk dat jouw kind aanwezig is bij de zwemles. Krijgt jouw kind zwemles vergoed via een zwemlespakket van de gemeente of via Leergeld en is het te vaak afwezig? Dan wordt de vergoeding stopgezet. Wij vergoeden dan geen extra zwemlessen meer. Check goed welke regels er zijn over aanwezigheid bij het zwembad of de zwemvereniging waar jouw kind zwemt.

What if the U-pas cannot be used to pay?

My child has swimming lessons diploma A, but we cannot afford this. Can you help?

Yes, we can help with this. You can, after first paying yourself at the pool, send the swimming voucher to us. We can then refund this voucher afterwards.

If there is any money left on the U-pas, we will first ask you to spend it. If the U-pas is empty or if the U-pas is needed for something else, you can send the swimming receipt to us.

Free swimming lessons diploma A with U-pas
If your child is working on the A-diploma, is between 5 and 17 years old, has no school swimming, has a U-pas, lives in Utrecht and swims at Den Hommel, De Kwakel or Fletiomare, he/she can take swimming lessons for free: Swimming lessons with the U-pas | Municipality of Utrecht

No U pass?
If you do not have a U pass but are eligible for help from us, you can send in the swimming voucher.

My child has swimming lessons diploma C, but we cannot afford this. Can you help?

Yes, we can help with this. You can, after first paying yourself at the pool, send the swimming voucher to us. We can then reimburse this voucher afterwards. We reimburse a maximum of 75% per swimming voucher and we reimburse a maximum of € 250.

How does it work with the U pass?

We can put extra credit on your U-pas, which you can use to pay for swimming lessons. It is important to know that this credit can only be used for swimming lessons and not for anything else. You can use this credit at almost all swimming pools in Utrecht - we will discuss this with you after your application.

Do you have a U pass, but have already paid? Then we will reimburse the swimming voucher, but will put money on the U pass for lessons after that.

Can I use the credit for anything other than swimming?

What if I have a U pass but it is not active?

My child wants to take diploma B and still has credit for A. Can that credit be used?

Can I pay at all swimming pools with the U-pas?

How long does it take for the money to appear on my child's U-pas?

Can I pay other swimming costs with the U-pas such as the registration fee, buoyancy suit, diploma fee and swimming pass?

The pool has debited from the wrong credit. What now?
