Cultural costs
(e.g. dance, singing, music lessons or theatre)
For music lessons or dance lessons, you can use the U-pas credit. Doesn't your child have a U-pas or not enough credit on it? Then we can apply to the Jeugdfonds Cultuur for reimbursement of cultural costs (for 1 activity per child). For dancewear or shoes, we work together with the Paul Verweel Sportfonds.
Read the information accompanying the questions below carefully to see if you can apply to us.
If the U-pas is needed for something else, we would also like to hear about it. Then together we will see how best to spend the U-pas.
Your child can make 1 culture application per year through the Youth Fund Culture. This is not possible if an application is already pending with the Jeugdfonds Sport. This is because we are allowed to submit one culture application or one sports application per year to the Youth Fund.
The maximum amount for culture (singing, music, dance, drama, rap etc) this year is 425 euros. This amount is not enough to pay the tuition fee for all music lessons, dance lessons, drama etc. We find this very annoying. After all, we really want every child to be able to participate in culture. Read below what you can do if the tuition fee for your child's cultural activity exceeds 425 euro per year.
No, we cooperate with the Youth Fund for Culture and reimburse 1 cultural activity per child.
Dance classes
If the U-pas is empty, the U-pas is needed for something else or your child does not have a U-pas (but you are eligible for support from us), we can submit an application to the Youth Fund Culture. → Then fill in the application form and tick Culture Costs. We then want to know where your child wants to take dance lessons and the tuition fees for a year. The Jeugdfonds Cultuur will then assess the application. This may take several weeks. If the application is approved, the Jeugdfonds Cultuur transfers the money directly to the dance school. It is therefore important that you do not already pay the tuition fees yourself.
Please note that the Youth Fund for Culture will reimburse a maximum of €425 in tuition fees for culture in 2025.
Dancewear
If your child has a U-pas, you can apply to the Paul Verweel Sports Fund yourself via: Rules of the game - Paul Verweel Sports fund. Read the rules carefully before applying. It is important not to buy the clothes already, you have to submit the application first.
If your child does not have a U pass, but you are eligible for support from us, you can fill in the application form.

What can you do if the allowance of €425 is too little to pay for cultural expenses?
- Paying extra via the U-pas
- If the U-pass is not accepted, if the U-pass is empty or if you do not have a U-pass, you will have to pay the difference yourself.
- You can also see if the culture (dance, music, rap, drama, singing, etc) can be done for a shorter time, for example in blocks or with a strip card costing up to €425.
- You can also see if the tuition fee is lower somewhere else.
- You can try talking to the dance club/music school/drama school etc to find a solution.
Are the costs for culture higher than €425 and you really can't pay the remaining amount? Please let us know as we will have to stop the application.
